Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. Angels watch me through the night, and wake me with the morning light. Amen.

Goodnight, Jesus

Dear Jesus, thank you for today. Thank you for my family and my friends. Please forgive me when I did wrong, and help me to be kind tomorrow. Keep us safe all night long. Amen.

Prayers for every day

Good morning, God

Good morning, God! This is the day that you have made. I will be happy and glad in it. Help me to love you and to love others today. Amen.

Mealtime prayer

God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food. By His hands we all are fed, give us, Lord, our daily bread. Amen.

Thank you, God

Thank you, God, for the sun and the rain, for flowers and trees, for my home and my food, and most of all, thank you for Jesus. Amen.

When I’m scared

Dear God, when I am afraid, I will trust in you. You are always with me, in the dark and in the light. Thank you for keeping me safe. Amen.

For my family

Dear Jesus, please bless my mum and dad, my brothers and sisters, and everyone I love. Help us to love each other and to love you more every day. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Grown-ups: try this at home

Bedtime is when little hearts open up

  • Keep the routine the same each night. Children remember the rhythm long before they remember the words.
  • Lie down beside them for a few minutes. In the dark, children talk about things they never mention in the day.
  • Pray over them, not just with them. Their minds, their feelings, their health and their spirit, one short sentence each.

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
